World of Warcraft on an Eee PC NetBook

So I thought I would do a crazy thing and install ROBLOX on my Eee PC. It works okay, although there are some places that build rather slowly. If that worked, then why not put it WoW on it? So I tried it. I did get the information that my machine’s hardware wasn’t compatible, but I continued the install anyway.

And it works.

Yes, the screen is only 9 inches, but it does kind of scroll when you have to access something at the bottom. I think what I might do is let my son play with it as long as it doesn’t overheat running WoW (which it might.) Who knows? The machine was a whopping $267.00 at Best Buy–a place I will never go to again to buy hardware. They didn’t care to tell me about the restocking fee and the $267 was their closeout price, which seemed really high, but then again they know they’re the only ones in these backwoods who carry it and I’m such an impulse buyer that I tried it.

I hate the keyboard and mouse. If I thought the keyboard was okay, I would install Ubuntu on it and be done with it, but I can’t so here it sits. I could take it back but they will charge me a restocking fee of about $50.00. Did I waste my money? I don’t know. If I can get it to play WoW and ROBLOX so my son can use it while I’m trying to work then it will be worth the cost and I will just bring it with me to blog until I get the keyboard fixed on my MacBook Pro. First, I have to get my gaming machine built and then I’ll fix the MacBook Pro.

I can’t recommend putting it on the Eee PC or any NetBook for that matter because it might run too hot. I really don’t know yet. I can tell you that it works, which is really cool, and that I might even just put some GameBoy games and other non Internet games on it for road trips. My son would be so happy.

If you see me on the Eee PC don’t try to battle me. I’ll be the one staying out of the way because for my hands it’s just too hard. When he plays though, the keys will be just perfect. It will work much better with an external mouse and I have one that he can use.

Get ready for a very happy kid!

Just Created a Death Knight on Emerald Dream for MOW

I just had to create a Death Knight on Emerald Dream for Moms of WoW. I named her momsofwow. I know, that’s kind of tacky, but I need consistency in what I do because I don’t have any. She’s a Blood Elf and rather cool. Right now she is only a 55 because I just created her right before I started this message. I guess I will spend my WoW hour today (wour?) leveling her up.

As soon as I get the character moving and into Durator I will create a guild somewhere–probably in Orgrimmar. It will be called Moms of Wow and you can join. It will be on the Horde side. If someone wants to create a similar one for the Alliance that would be great. Then we call all get together for coffee and people will wonder what all these Horde and Alliance people are doing together and being nice to each other.

I would love to hear what you think a good zone would be to have fun Moms of Wow meetings at with this character. Maybe we could fly there every week and have some fun. It would have to be a place where low level people can go as well and some place neutral so we’re not always fighting off unnecessary characters.

What I would give for a server that is like Second Life where we could build a nice place to have fun. Maybe that’s an idea. I do own land in Second Life. Maybe we could all get together there instead of on WoW and that way Alliance and Horde can actually chat together. I’ll think about it. For those who don’t know, Second Life is free. If you do not have an account, click on this link and you will be brought to my place and offered to create an account.

Perhaps we can all create some skins and clothes that would look like our characters. We obviously cannot use the exact same ones from Warcraft, but maybe they can come close.

Just Bought Wrath of the Lich King

Now that my Troll is a 59 I finally bought Wrath of the Lich King. I just love having a horse to ride–even if it is dead and skeletal. The movement is so much smoother than that crappy raptor I have with my troll.

What I will miss, however, is my cat. Since I’m not a hunter the closest I will get to having anything like a pet is a zombie-at least that is what my son says. So I will have this gross dead thing following me around and attacking things for me. Is that ok? I guess so.

I do love starting off with armor that is both strong and enchanted. It is such a drag to have to go find it everywhere. Also, getting gold is so much easier right now. I know that once I go back down to the regular lands of WoW to help my son that making money will be harder, but let’s hope I can do it with ease.

My son is a bit angry though. He wanted Lich King for Christmas but he can’t even use it because he doesn’t have a Level 55 yet. So, I will tell him that once he makes it to Level 55 that I will get him Lich King. Perhaps this will entice him to take it a bit more seriously and do his quests. Or, it will make him want me to do the quests for him. NOT!
