Part Time WoW Tester Job

I found this job on craigslist today. If you’re in the bay area you might want to check it out :) It’s a QA tester for World of Warcraft. I see they might have other games coming up too.

Video Game QA / Tester (WoW) – Part Time

I really wish more jobs like this would pop up. I’ve got a technical background but I’m pretty much confined to the home office right now. To find something like this while telecommuting would be incredible. I love my telecommute job right now, but I would love to add some flavor around the edges. :)

Derelict Strand

Today I log in and find myself dead in Derelict Strand. I guess I must have taken a call and then died while not paying attention. Bummer.

Derelict Strand is in Northrend. You’re not going to be able to get to Northrend unless you are at least I think a level 55 and have The Wrath of the Lich King and honestly I wouldn’t recommend even going there unless you were a level 68 because all the bad guys seem to be 68 or above.

The quests so far aren’t too hard and I was pleased to find out that some of them were undead quests which I think help me with my quest for that darn horse. I already have my epic mount for my class but the Troll raptor is not graceful at all. When I ride I feel like I’m bouncing everywhere–worse than a horse with a really bad trot. So I’m aiming for that skeletal mount. I hope that it is nice after all this work.

Northrend doesn’t seem that difficult if you’re at the right level. The quests so far have been really easy and the rewards are great. I’ve been easily able to get a lot of silver and gold from kills and quests. I have yet to collect any good amount of leather or runecloth though which is a drag because I need to give the runecloth to Ralston Farnsley to get exalted with Undercity so I can get that blasted horse.

Honestly, I wish I had started WoW a long time ago. When my son talked about it I always thought it was just another Warcraft game like Warcraft and Battle.Net. I had no idea it was an MMO so hear I sit only a level 68. Sigh.

Anyway, I hope to get more money in Northrend today and if not I’m not collecting anymore runecloth then I will go back to the Outlands where money and runecloth is abundant.

Dar’Khan’s Lieutenants

I just finished the Dar’Khan’s Lieutenants quest and what a pain it was. The Lieutenants weren’t difficult to fight–they were rather easy. Getting there was pretty easy as well. The hard part was waiting for Masophet the Black to show up. Mirdoran the Fallen, Borgoth the Bloodletter, and Jurion the Deceiver were all rather easy and available but Masophet the Black took his jolly time getting there and while you’re waiting all his henchmen around him spawn several times and sometimes right where you’re standing if you’re not careful. I suggest not getting up and going anywhere while you’re waiting.

Some people claim that he is in one of two ziggerauts (or is it zuggerat ziggarat ziggerats? lol). I found him in the one where Quest Helper told me he was but only after a few tries. I would sit there and wait and then my son would need something and when I would come back two mages would then be attacking me. I would suggest not going to the area if you’re going to have little mommy needs at the time.

OMG another update right now. It’s always such a pain because I have to open firewalls and crap. I’ll be back posting about it later. >.>

Getting More Hunter Training

I’m not sure how I ended up dead but when I opened up my Wow today I was a ghost. I suspect I was either working on Captives at Deatholme or Dar’Kahn’s Lieutenants because of where I can find my corpse and I have both quests open.

So off I go, down to see which one will be a bit easier at the moment since I’m probably low on everything. I most likely had to help one of the kids with something so I stopped and then died. I can never remember.

Hmmm…I’m not able to revive in a safe area. I’m right smack between the two quests with a lot of ugly monsters waiting for me to awaken from my ghostly slumber.

I flew back to Silvermoon City to get more hunter training. I don’t think I was able to successfully defeat these guys because of my lack of skills at the moment. And I was right, I was completely void of anything I enjoyed using to defeat bad guys. I couldn’t even dual wield yet and I don’t even have axe training–one of my favorites.

So, off I go to go get some wicked axes and training before I take on the creeps.

War on Deatholme

I just finished the War on Deatholme quest. It wasn’t too difficult, just kind of annoying because some of the Eye of Dar’Kahn guys are hard to see on a small monitor. During this quest my Lithellyn jumped to a level 20 and her pet brat is still a 19.

It’s kind of annoying. My son is almost next to me playing Urban Terror on the Mac and screaming at the guys. It’s frustrating. Why do kids get so insane when playing video games? I try to tell him to not be so hyper and sometimes I have even unplugged the computer and say it’s just a game. In fact, his brother deleted the little guy’s Death Knight last night and there was a big fuss. It was incredibly annoying to hear them fight about it.

With the War on Deatholme quest all I received was a pat on the back, experience with Tranquillen, 25 silver and 1950 experience points. Oooh ahh. I signed up for the next quest Dar’Khan’s Lieutenants that will give me better leggings than I have now.

How did you fair in the War on Deatholme? Did you get any decent goodies along the way?

Assault on Zeb’Nowa Quest

It’s so terrible of me to do that. I haven’t been able to play because my job has me so busy but I’m trying. I’m going to try and at least be here 2 times per week. Oh, and not to mention that my son has decided that he wants a Death Knight on my account so I never get to play anymore. Of course he refuses to level his own account to 55 so he can get a Death Knight.

I’ve leveled up my Troll Purringlion to I think 65. She’s walking around the Outlands killing demons and beasts and making slow progress given the time I get to play.

Today I’m playing with my Blood Elf Lithellyn who lives on Bladefist. I think she’s the one with the video on here. She’s still a 19 because I’ve ignored her for so long, but I hope to bring her to the Oulands soon. I really don’t want to get her ride because I think it’s some kind of an ugly ostrich and I want a horse. Dang it.

I’m fighting the Shadowpine Trolls right now while I’m on the Assualt on Zeb’Nowa. I don’t have any hints for this quest as I haven’t picked up anything exciting and I keep getting interrupted. According to the Quest Log I can get 11 silver and a choice of several green bracers:

Sentry Bracers: Mail, 72 Armor, +2 Strength, +2 Stamina
Supple Cotton Bracer: Leather, 14 Armor, +1 Stamina, +1 Intellect
Farstrider’s Bracer: Leather 33 Armor, +3 Agility, +2 Stamina

I’d love to know if you find anything exciting here if I don’t so please respond. If I find something I’ll post as well.

World of Warcraft on an Eee PC NetBook

So I thought I would do a crazy thing and install ROBLOX on my Eee PC. It works okay, although there are some places that build rather slowly. If that worked, then why not put it WoW on it? So I tried it. I did get the information that my machine’s hardware wasn’t compatible, but I continued the install anyway.

And it works.

Yes, the screen is only 9 inches, but it does kind of scroll when you have to access something at the bottom. I think what I might do is let my son play with it as long as it doesn’t overheat running WoW (which it might.) Who knows? The machine was a whopping $267.00 at Best Buy–a place I will never go to again to buy hardware. They didn’t care to tell me about the restocking fee and the $267 was their closeout price, which seemed really high, but then again they know they’re the only ones in these backwoods who carry it and I’m such an impulse buyer that I tried it.

I hate the keyboard and mouse. If I thought the keyboard was okay, I would install Ubuntu on it and be done with it, but I can’t so here it sits. I could take it back but they will charge me a restocking fee of about $50.00. Did I waste my money? I don’t know. If I can get it to play WoW and ROBLOX so my son can use it while I’m trying to work then it will be worth the cost and I will just bring it with me to blog until I get the keyboard fixed on my MacBook Pro. First, I have to get my gaming machine built and then I’ll fix the MacBook Pro.

I can’t recommend putting it on the Eee PC or any NetBook for that matter because it might run too hot. I really don’t know yet. I can tell you that it works, which is really cool, and that I might even just put some GameBoy games and other non Internet games on it for road trips. My son would be so happy.

If you see me on the Eee PC don’t try to battle me. I’ll be the one staying out of the way because for my hands it’s just too hard. When he plays though, the keys will be just perfect. It will work much better with an external mouse and I have one that he can use.

Get ready for a very happy kid!

Just Created a Death Knight on Emerald Dream for MOW

I just had to create a Death Knight on Emerald Dream for Moms of WoW. I named her momsofwow. I know, that’s kind of tacky, but I need consistency in what I do because I don’t have any. She’s a Blood Elf and rather cool. Right now she is only a 55 because I just created her right before I started this message. I guess I will spend my WoW hour today (wour?) leveling her up.

As soon as I get the character moving and into Durator I will create a guild somewhere–probably in Orgrimmar. It will be called Moms of Wow and you can join. It will be on the Horde side. If someone wants to create a similar one for the Alliance that would be great. Then we call all get together for coffee and people will wonder what all these Horde and Alliance people are doing together and being nice to each other.

I would love to hear what you think a good zone would be to have fun Moms of Wow meetings at with this character. Maybe we could fly there every week and have some fun. It would have to be a place where low level people can go as well and some place neutral so we’re not always fighting off unnecessary characters.

What I would give for a server that is like Second Life where we could build a nice place to have fun. Maybe that’s an idea. I do own land in Second Life. Maybe we could all get together there instead of on WoW and that way Alliance and Horde can actually chat together. I’ll think about it. For those who don’t know, Second Life is free. If you do not have an account, click on this link and you will be brought to my place and offered to create an account.

Perhaps we can all create some skins and clothes that would look like our characters. We obviously cannot use the exact same ones from Warcraft, but maybe they can come close.

Just Bought Wrath of the Lich King

Now that my Troll is a 59 I finally bought Wrath of the Lich King. I just love having a horse to ride–even if it is dead and skeletal. The movement is so much smoother than that crappy raptor I have with my troll.

What I will miss, however, is my cat. Since I’m not a hunter the closest I will get to having anything like a pet is a zombie-at least that is what my son says. So I will have this gross dead thing following me around and attacking things for me. Is that ok? I guess so.

I do love starting off with armor that is both strong and enchanted. It is such a drag to have to go find it everywhere. Also, getting gold is so much easier right now. I know that once I go back down to the regular lands of WoW to help my son that making money will be harder, but let’s hope I can do it with ease.

My son is a bit angry though. He wanted Lich King for Christmas but he can’t even use it because he doesn’t have a Level 55 yet. So, I will tell him that once he makes it to Level 55 that I will get him Lich King. Perhaps this will entice him to take it a bit more seriously and do his quests. Or, it will make him want me to do the quests for him. NOT!

Training My First Pet as Lithellyn

After finally collecting all the quests and leveling up enough to train a new pet I caught my first one on video. I know it isn’t a great step, but it’s the first step in my Beast Master Blood Elf. It’s going to be a very long journey taking on this task, but I think I can handle collecting elite and rare pets for my character. Read more »
